About Dakota Dry Bean

After managing dry bean processing plants for 12 years, David Polries founded Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. in 1998 as a dry bean marketing company for local Grand Forks, ND and East Grand Forks, MN dry bean growers. 

In March 1999, Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. began marketing dry peas for Washburn, ND area growers.  By August 1999, cleaning equipment was purchased, and Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. began cleaning peas in Washburn and East Grand Forks.  In October 1999, splitting equipment was developed, and by December of that year, a warehouse was purchased in East Grand Forks, MN.

Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. continued to expand with the purchase of a facility in Crary, ND in 2002, Devils Lake in 2004, a new barley pearling line in East Grand Forks in 2007, and the building of a new receiving facility in Lansford, ND in 2008. 

Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. currently has 23 employees with sales exceeding 28 million dollars per year. This past year 2.2 million bushels of yellow peas and 1 million bushels of barley were processed. 

Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. also continues to market over 15,000 MT of dry beans per year for dry bean processors in North Dakota and Minnesota.

Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. currently produces the following products: Yellow Split Peas, Whole Yellow Peas, Pea Fiber, Pea flour and Pearled Barley. 

Dakota Dry Bean, Inc. is a member of the US Dry Pea and Lentil Trade Association, the Northern Pulse Growers Association, and the North Central Bean Dealers Association.
